Nicked and Child Criminal Exploitation

Nicked is a game designed to help young people identify the risks associated with child criminal exploitation and county lines grooming.
The game helps young people recognise warning signs that they might be being groomed. Child criminal exploitation can be quite similar to domestic abuse in that people don’t believe it will happen to them. It’s often a positive quality like loyalty, bravery or a willingness to protect someone that enables a young person to be manipulated”.
The game was developed the game after conversations with youth workers who wanted a non-confrontational and open way to explore the topic of child exploitation.
The game is available for schools, youth groups and community organisations to borrow from the Public Health Resource Centre in Leeds or through Forward Leeds Young People’s team who can also offer advice, information and support around alcohol and drugs.
Watch a video about the game that was shot at Richmond Hill Community Centre that explains how the game can help young people.
In this short film for facilitators of the game Lewis explains how to play the game. He also covers how to maximise the learning that an be taken from the game so young people can benefit from playing it.
