Up to 12 week programmes
Community detox is offered for opiate, alcohol and benzodiazepines with prescribing support provided by Forward Leeds.
Residential detox can be option both in Leeds and away from Leeds. An out of Leeds option is also offered for a wide range of alcohol and substance dependence.
The Detox team currently supports around 360 opiate or alcohol dependent service users. We work closely with other teams within Forward Leeds to ensure the needs of all service users are met during the detox phase.
Service users work within a two to 12 week programme with a clear abstinence goal. Staff work across the three hubs with service users that are ready to commence a medically assisted detox to achieve abstinence.
The team reaches out to vulnerable and high risk service users to make sure they are fully engaged with the detox.
Our detox team will work with you and will manage the preparation for detox, planning, completion and relapse prevention, including engagement with one to one and group work.
Access to a range of aftercare services in Leeds is organised by staff, volunteers and peer mentors to ensure your recovery journey continues after treatment has been successfully completed.
In this short film Helen Falkiner explains what to expect from a detox.
As she explains, “Stopping the medication isn’t the end of their treatment, it’s just the start of their recovery…”
In this short film our volunteer Kelly Stockdale talks through how she helps people with their detox and recovery.
Mary Murray, a former Forward Leeds client talks about why she decided to do a detox through Forward Leeds and the improvements it has made to her life.
We also work with residential rehabs. We help users of our service to find suitable rehab programmes for them and arrange the admission. Once the rehab is organised we will continue to support throughout. Once the client is nearing discharge we will work together to put a plan in place to help them sustain the recovery. We have an aftercare service you can join called 5 Ways
