Latest update from Forward Leeds

Below are answers to some key questions people may have about how our service is operating right now.

Which hubs are open?
All three of the Forward Leeds treatment hubs in Armley, Seacroft and the city centre are operating to their normal hours. However, 5 WAYS, the sustained recovery hub for those who are abstinent, is now closed except for those with a pre-arranged appointment to see a worker there.

Is my appointment still going ahead?
Unless you have been contacted to say your face-to-face appointment will not be going ahead, you should assume that it will be taking place. We are contacting people who do not need to come in to let them know and to make alternative arrangements with them. This is why it is important you make sure we have the correct contact details for you.

When you arrive at Forward Leeds you will be asked to wash your hands before anything else. This applies to staff, volunteers, visitors and those using our service.

Are groups running?
There are no groups or activities happening across any hubs right now in line with government advice. There are a number of international mutual aid groups who have online meetings. There is a list of some of the online mutual aid meetings on our website. We are currently looking into whether we are able to provide some form of group online at the moment.

What about harm reduction services?
The harm reduction rooms in the hubs are open from 12.30pm-4.30pm for new injecting equipment. In addition, there are needle exchanges in a number of pharmacies across the city. We have a list of locations of needles exchanges on our website. We would recommend calling ahead to check their opening times.

Now might also be a good time to get a naloxone kit if you don’t already have one. Naloxone saves lives. Speak to any member of Forward Leeds staff about how to get a naloxone kit.

What else should I be doing to keep safe?
Please read the full COVID 19 Advice for people who use substances on our website. It contains important harm reduction advice for those using drugs.
