This September, Forward Leeds staff, volunteers and supporters are lacing up their trainers and taking part in Park Runs across the city to mark Recovery Month 2025.
These events are a chance to celebrate recovery, raise awareness and fundraise for 5 WAYS, the Leeds hub for those in recovery from issues with alcohol and/or drugs.
Forward Leeds staff and volunteers are taking part in four Saturday Park Runs during the month:
- 6 September – Woodhouse Moor (LS6 1AN)
- 13 September – Roundhay Park (LS8 2HH)
- 20 September – Armley Park (LS12 3LW)
- 27 September – Temple Newsam (LS15 0AE)

Each Park Run begins at 9.00am, with participants asked to arrive between 8.30 and 8.45am for a warm-up and course briefing.
Whether you’re a regular runner, just starting out, or want to cheer people on from the sidelines, you’re welcome to join in. You can take part in just one run or come along to all four – the more the merrier!
As well as running, Forward Leeds will have a stall at each event.
Organiser Richard Sellman, a Recovery Coordinator at Forward Leeds, said: “Recovery Month is all about showing that recovery is possible and worth celebrating. Park Run felt like the perfect fit – it’s free, open to everyone and has such a positive community spirit.
“By taking part, we can spread the message that recovery is for everybody while raising funds for 5 WAYS, which does so much to support people in Leeds.”
