New Volunteering Coordinator for Forward Leeds

Carys Hyett will be supporting volunteers at Forward Leeds in her new role with Humankind as Regional Volunteering Coordinator.

Carys previously ran the befriending volunteering project for Mind in Harrogate and prior to that supported people who had brain injuries or mental health difficulties.

Whilst still a student, Carys ran a volunteering project at a medium secure unit for men with mental health difficulties who had come into contact with the criminal justice system.

Carys said: “I have always been passionate about mental health and wellbeing so to support people donating their time and energy to us is so rewarding. The thing I am especially looking forward to about working with Humankind and Forward Leeds is working with so many different people. Volunteering can really improve someone’s life and I hope that in helping volunteers find the right roles for them, it can help to progress their career or provide some fulfilment for them.”

Although the majority of her time will be spent with Forward Leeds, Carys will also be supporting volunteers at the Crossroads Adult Diversion Scheme in North Yorkshire and Bradford No Second Night Out.
