Forward Leeds wins Award for Excellence

Forward Leeds won Partner of the Year at the Leeds Adults and Health Awards for Excellence for the: “Outstanding contribution that the service makes to support people to recover from substance use”.

The nomination said: “The service is high performing, high quality and works in partnership across the city. We could not wish for a better partner to work with and deliver outcomes for the people of Leeds.”

“Forward Leeds Operations Director Helen Cook, who accepted the award on behalf of the service, said: “We’re delighted to have won this award. The other nominees in this category are all outstanding services, projects and individuals and this makes this mean even more to our service.

It’s a wonderful reflection not just of all the hard work our staff put in but the care and kindness with which they all approach their roles.”

The nomination by Ian Street, the Commissioning Programme Leader of the Adults and Health Directorate at Leeds City Council, also highlighted that: “more people successfully complete treatment in Leeds than anywhere else in the country. This has a huge impact, not only on each individual but on their families and the communities in which they live.

“The CQC (Care Quality Commission) has recently inspected the service and gave an Outstanding rating. There are very few drug and alcohol services rated outstanding in the country and none in any of the other major cities.”

The awards were presented by Cllr Salma Arif, Leeds City Council’s Executive Member for Public Health and Active Lifestyles. They recognise outstanding work in Adults and Health and Social Care across Leeds City Council’s staff, services and partners.
