Forward Leeds offers tips to ‘Keep Calm at Christmas’

The Leeds alcohol and drug service Forward Leeds is running a campaign to encourage safer drinking at Christmas.

Forward Leeds are distributing their Tips for Safer Seasonal Drinking leaflet into health centres, GPs surgeries, pharmacies and Leeds Council One Stop Centres as well as from their three hubs in the city. The advice is also online at www.forwardleeds.co.uk/christmas.

Anna Headley, Head of Forward Leeds said: “Christmas is a time for celebration and enjoyment but sometimes that can get out of hand. People may go too far and end up accidentally hurting themselves or other people”.

Anna continued: “We are just offering some advice to help people look after themselves. That ranges from being careful about how you drink to making sure you and your friends get home safely at the end of the night.

“We want people to have fun and not have cause to regret anything they have done over the Christmas period”.

The campaign runs alongside advice designed to help people deal with their emotional and mental wellbeing over the Christmas period. This side of the campaign helps people to tackle the feelings of loneliness, depression as well as the pressures that can accompany the festive season.

Forward Leeds will be sharing messages of advice on social media under the hashtag #KeepCalmAtChristmas in December as well as providing handouts with information and advice along with contact telephone numbers for additional support.
