The Forward Leeds Family Plus Team has been awarded a Stardust Award worth £5,000 thanks to the recognition through Argos and their Neighbourly giving programme.
This fantastic opportunity came about through the support of Sue Abbott, Store Manager at the Argos Headrow branch in Leeds. Sue nominated the Forward Leeds team via the Neighbourly platform, recognising the dedication and impact the Family Plus Team has in supporting families affected by drug and alcohol use across Leeds.
The £5,000 award will go directly towards enhancing Forward Leeds’s work with families, allowing the service to provide even more tailored support, resources, and activities to those who need it most.
Sue said: “Having volunteered with the Family Plus team for nearly two years, I see first-hand the difference the activities make to the lives of families. It was a privilege to put them forward for the Stardust Award and I’m so pleased they’ve been recognised in this way.”
Senior Family Plus Worker Katie Thornton said: “We’re blown away by this recognition and the generosity of Argos. A huge thank you to Sue for thinking of us, and to Neighbourly for making it possible.
“The funding is going to be used to facilitate family sessions so families in Leeds can spend positive, valuable and quality time together. As part of these family sessions, we will be including a food element, which could include providing snacks, lunch or food items for the families to take away”
