Celebration, advice and support at Leeds Pride 2026

Forward Leeds was proud to be part of Leeds Pride 2026, joining thousands of people from across the city for one of the UK’s biggest celebrations of LGBTQ+ communities.

The team was based at Leeds Bridge, where our information and advice stall welcomed a steady stream of visitors seeking advice, information and a bit of fun.

People stopped by to chat with staff about alcohol, drugs and wellbeing in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Whether they wanted advice for themselves, were supporting a loved one, or wanted to learn more about the services available in Leeds, our team was on hand to give confidential and non-judgemental information.

Forward Leeds Team Manager Hannah Trevisani said: “Being at Leeds Pride gives us the chance to meet people in the community, have conversations and show support is available without judgement. We know LGBTQ+ communities can face greater challenges, so it’s important that people know Forward Leeds is an inclusive service where everyone is welcome. It was wonderful to see so many people visit the stall and later for our colleagues and people we’ve supported to walk through the city, celebrating Pride in Recovery.”

The stall proved to be a popular attraction, with visitors spinning the wheel for the chance to win a prize and trying out the “beer goggles”. The activities gave people a hands-on demonstration of how alcohol can affect judgement, coordination and decision-making.

One of the most memorable moments of the day came as Forward Leeds staff, volunteers and people who have accessed our services joined the Leeds Pride Parade under the banner “Pride in Recovery.”

Marching together through the city centre, the group celebrated not only LGBTQ+ Pride but also the positive impact that recovery can have on people’s lives. The banner celebrated a powerful message: that recovery is something to be proud of. It recognised the strength, resilience and determination of people in recovery, while highlighting that recovery and LGBTQ+ identities are both reasons for pride, hope and belonging.

Forward Leeds is committed to providing inclusive alcohol and drug support for everyone in Leeds, especially the city’s LGBTQ+ community. Events such as Leeds Pride are a valuable opportunity to connect with people, promote healthier choices, tackle stigma and let people know that support is available whenever they need it.
