Alex Sobel MP visits to celebrate 10 Years supporting people in the city

Forward Leeds welcomed Alex Sobel, MP for Leeds Central and Headingley, this week.

The visit was an opportunity to showcase the work the service does to support people in Leeds affected by alcohol and drug use, and to speak openly about the challenges and opportunities facing recovery services in the city.

During his visit, Mr. Sobel met with staff to hear firsthand about their experiences. He toured the city-centre hub, learned about our multi-agency approach to treatment and recovery, and took part in a discussion on policy with Service Director Helen Cook and Team Manager Catherine Casey.

Forward Leeds staff discussed the importance of early intervention, accessible support, and the impact of trauma-informed care. We also shared some of the key successes from the past year, including increased engagement with young people and continued growth in peer-led recovery support.

The visit was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen connections between local services and our elected representatives, and to highlight the importance of a well-resourced and inclusive approach to tackling substance use across Leeds.

We’d like to thank Alex Sobel MP for his time, his thoughtful questions, and his continued interest in the work we do.
