Alcohol and Drugs Information Day

Anyone interested in learning more about alcohol and drugs is welcome to attend a free event on Thursday 17 October.

Forward Leeds is offering an event at the Hamara Centre in Beeston providing information and advice around alcohol and other drugs.

Bill Owen of Forward Leeds said: “It’s a chance for people to find out more whether they know very little or quite a lot about alcohol and drugs. There are lots of stories out there on social media as well as misinformation. We’re hoping to bust some myths and provide facts and insights.

“As well as our talks, visitors are welcome to ask any questions about alcohol, drugs and substance misuse, including the effects of those drugs.”

The day will also cover recognising those who may have drinking or drugs issues and how they can be supported.

The event starts at 11am when Jess Clayton from West Yorkshire Police will be giving a talk on ‘County Lines’.

Forward Leeds are running four 30 minute workshops.

  • Cannabis and synthetic cannabinoids (aka spice)
  • Opioids (such as heroin, morphine and codeine)
  • Alcohol
  • Young People and substances

Every workshop will run at 12:00, 12:30, 2:00 and 2:30pm with a break from 1pm-2pm for lunch. This will offer plenty of opportunities for people to drop in on a workshop that interests them or to rotate around all four.
