Lead Nurse

We have an exciting opportunity in Forward Leeds for a Lead Nurse where you will play a crucial role in delivering, developing and maintaining excellent clinical practice. You’ll have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support, working with them to develop the personal, flexible, and realistic support packages they need to help turn things around.

This is an opportunity to not only deliver health care services in a supportive environment but to be involved in a CQC Outstanding service to ensure the people of Leeds continue to receive the best possible support.

Key duties will include

  • Working with the Service Clinical Director and Operational Director to ensure good integrated governance, effectiveness and best practice within the service.
  • Providing clinical leadership to Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and IPs to inform and influence clinical culture, quality and standards, and implementation of clinical models.
  • Implementing a robust health care and wellbeing assessment process. Deliver health promotion and harm reduction interventions in a person-centred manner (e.g. safer sex, contraception, nutrition and healthy living), and ensure Needle and Syringe Protocols adhere to the Humankind national minimum standards.
  • Prescribing medication for service users requiring alcohol community detoxification/Opiate Replacement Therapy in line with Humankind medicine management policies and governance procedures.
  • Coordinating and participating in home visits for those who’s health prohibits them from attending services.
  • Managing, mentoring, coaching and ensuring the development of staff reporting to you.
  • Contributing to the maintenance of service user clinical databases.
