Housing Support Volunteer

We ask that you are able to commit to a half a day or full day for a minimum of 4 months. The Forward Leeds service is open from Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

Forward Leeds is the alcohol and drug service in Leeds for adults, young people and families. Forward Leeds is delivered by 4 services in partnership, led by Humankind. This exciting volunteer role would suit someone with an empathetic, non-judgmental attitude who can build strong working relationships with others. This is a fantastic opportunity to get hands on experience in a drug and alcohol service and put your passion for supporting and advocating for vulnerable people to great use.

This role will sit with our Housing support team in Forward Leeds. The team provide support to existing Forward Leeds service users who are experiencing issues related to housing. The team will work collaboratively with the service user and the case manager to explore all options for housing support. The support the team can provide includes (but isn’t limited to) liaising with housing support services/landlords, assisting with securing new tenancies, supporting with the housing bidding process and support with housing repairs/rent arrears. Support also includes budgeting advice and benefits support, support to settle into the local community and signposting to other relevant support services.
