The Hurly-Burley Players put on their first ever production to great acclaim.
The Hurly-Burley Players drama troupe from 5 WAYS, the Leeds centre for recovery from substance misuse, staged Macbeth at Guiseley Theatre on 8 May to an almost sold out crowd and received a standing ovation at the end.
The play was directed by RADA trained Christabel Grasby who appeared in the ITV drama Peak Practice and most of the performers had not acted before or even appeared on stage.
Ros Jones who attended the play said: “The whole experience was amazing, from being given our tickets, then shown into the theatre to being absolutely captivated by such an enthralling play – the actors were simply amazing, the background music perfect and the costumes simple and effective.
We will definitely be on the look out for any other play they do!”
Director Christabel Grasby said: “I am so unbelievably proud of them all. This was definitely, without a doubt, one of the most rewarding projects l have ever had the privilege of working on. The atmosphere on stage and within the audience was electric!
“A little bit of magic was made with this performance and l feel this is just the beginning for the ’Hurly-Burley Players’.
“It was an absolute triumph and I have loved every minute of this journey.”
