5 WAYS offers a range of groups and activities. These vary from peer support and recovery groups to activities that develop individual skills and interests through to support into employment, training and education.

There’s something on offer for everyone at 5 WAYS.

One-to-one employment, training and education sessions can be booked through a member of staff for Mondays, Tuesday or Fridays.

Mondays

Guitar Lessons 10am-12pm
Drop in for beginners and upwards, no experience needed and guitars are provided.

Brunch Club 10am-12pm (run in conjunction with Learning to Live Again)
Peer-led welcome group. Come along and chat to members of 5 WAYS and Learning to Live Again to find out more about everything that the two services have to offer including the different activities and groups.

SMART Group 12pm-2pm
SMART helps individuals seeking abstinence from addictive behaviours to gain independence, achieve recovery and lead meaningful and satisfying lives. The approach is secular and science based; using motivational, behavioural and cognitive methods. For more information visit the SMART website

Craft Group 2pm-4:30pm
Learn new skills and create your own items. Projects have included jewellery, candles, cards, decorating ceramics and making soaps.

Tuesdays

Dance/Aerobics with DAZL 11am-12pm
Drop in sessions led by Dance Action Leeds. Learn new dance routines and styles and keep fit at the same time. No experience necessary.

Grow Together Permaculture Group 12:30pm-3pm (run with Hyde Park Source Outdoors Active and Well)
With their own allotment in Hyde Park the gardening group is a great way to learn new skills, keep active and even take some of the produce home with you. Being part of the natural environment has been widely documented to have a positive impact on mental and physical health.

Families Anonymous Meeting 7pm-8.30pm (hosted not run by 5 WAYS)
Families Anonymous Meetings are for Families and Friends of those with a Drug or Related Behavioural Problem. Newcomers are welcome without prior arrangements. For more information visit the Fam Anon website.

Wednesdays

Progress Group 10:30am-12:30pm (12 week course)
Overcome barriers that are preventing you from moving forward, explore your recovery options and make informed choices about education, training, voluntary work or paid employment.

Music Production  11am-1:30pm
Learn the science behind the song including radio production, drum machines, song writing, creating podcasts and hosting radio shows.

Mind Your Head 12:30pm-1:30pm
Learn to become more mindful over the course of six short sessions. Paying more attention to the present moment and the world around you can improve your mental health and avoid instead of being on ‘automatic pilot’ or distracted by thoughts focused in the past or future.

Drama Workshop 1pm-3pm (run by Drama North)
A twelve-week course leading to a production of Macbeth. Students must have participated from the beginning. The course teaches acting skills as well as how to stage a production.

Preparation for Rehab Group 2pm-3pm (Closed Group)
A group to provide information and support for people who have decided to access residential rehab.

Thursdays

Self Recovery Group 11am-1pm
A safe space for people to explore their issues with the support of their peers. This group operates as an informal mutual aid group to help people to help each other to manage their recovery and well being.

Wonder Women 1.30pm-3.30pm (women only)
The sessions focus on self-empowerment and emotional wellbeing for women in recovery from substance misuse.

Drug and Alcohol Awareness Course 4pm-6pm
A four week course that  offers an overview of different substances, their appearance  and their effects. The course offers information that will enable attendees to provide the right support and advice to others.

Yoga 4pm-5pm
Drop in sessions. The practice brings calmness to the mind and can reduces stress and anxiety through focus on coordination of the breath and movement. No experience necessary.

Adult Children of Alcoholics 6.15pm-8.15pm (hosted not run by 5 WAYS)
Adult Children of Alcoholics is an anonymous program of women and men who grew up in alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional homes. For more information visit the ACA website.

Which Way Now 11am-1pm
Made big changes to your alcohol or drug use already but not sure where to start planning the next step? Are you anxious about being able to stay abstinent after a detox, or worried that you don’t have the experience, confidence or support that you need to leave treatment? Which Way Now is a three month course that looks at all aspects of your recovery and the help that is available to get you where you want to be.
