Forward Leeds runs 10K for 5 WAYS

Former users of the Forward Leeds service and staff recently completed the Leeds 10K.

A team of 14 runners from Forward Leeds ran the race on the 7 July and raised over £500 for 5 WAYS. A special mention for Dr Paul Bamber who completed the race dressed as a dinosaur.

Forward Leeds Area Manager Helen Cook, who was a part of the team said: “It was a great day for us, running together and supporting each other. That’s what Forward Leeds is all about. Supporting people to achieve their goals.

“It felt wonderful to be part of a team of differing levels who worked together to make sure we all completed the 10K – even those of us who chose to do it dressed as a dinosaur! The fact we have raised some money to support activities for people at 5 WAYS as well makes it even more special”.

Former user of the Forward Leeds service Stacey Vickers who is now a member of 5 WAYS also took part. Stacey said: “It was such a good atmosphere. It was really nice to be supported. To run with staff and be a part of the team, all working together.”

5 WAYS is a place for people in recovery and those who are coming to the end of their treatment for alcohol or drug issues.

It provides a safe and comfortable environment for people to gain support, advice and guidance.

The Leeds 10K is the original legacy run of the late Jane Tomlinson. It starts on The Headrow and finishes in Millenium Square.
