A team of 14 from Foward Leeds are running the Leeds 10K to raise money for 5 WAYS.
The team is a mixture of staff and former users of the service. Clinical Director Dr Mark Hallam and Area Manager Helen Cook are amongst those who will take part in the race.
Detox worker Iain Cullum who helped organise the team said: “We wanted to do this run to raise money for 5 WAYS and because it’s important we practise what we preach.
“At Forward Leeds we encourage people to live healthier lifestyles. Being active is really good for your body, mind and your health. This is not just been about running 10K on the day, which for some of us is going to be a real challenge, it’s also about training together and supporting each other to do the run.”
5 WAYS is a place for people in recovery and those who are coming to the end of their treatment for alcohol or drug issues.
It provides a safe and comfortable environment for people to gain support, advice and guidance.
The Leeds 10K is the original legacy run of the late Jane Tomlinson. It starts on Vicar Lane and runners will run up Kirkstall Road, past Kirkstall Abbey before returning to finish in Millenium Square.
