A website for people in recovery from drug and alcohol addictions to show their creative side has been launched in Leeds.
The R3C0VRY.WRX site has been set up by 5 WAYS, the Leeds hub for people in recovery.
Dean Wood, of 5 WAYS, who is an editor of the site, said: “This was the idea of the members of 5 WAYS. They wanted a way of publishing not just their own work but that of others in the recovery community in Yorkshire and beyond.”
5 WAYS are inviting members of the public to come in and hear the story of R3C0VRY.WRX from its creators on the 6th of June at two sessions, 3:30pm and 5:30pm.
Dean continued: “The recovery community is full of creativity and R3C0VRY.WRX gives us a chance to share that creativity with the world. To demonstrate that life without substances can be imaginative, fulfilling and inspiring
“We’ve had plenty of local contributions so far but we’ve also had published authors and professional artists from Glasgow, London, Washington, Toronto and California contributing to the site”.
As well as the creative aspect of the site R3C0VRY.WRX also includes sections on mindfulness, personal stories and reflections on recovery and even recipes for healthy living.
In due course the editorial team are hoping to produce a series of podcasts and videos to offer more for their growing audience.
Anyone is welcome to attend the two sessions on the 6th of June at 3:30pm and 5:30pm at 5 WAYS, 43 Westfield Road, off Burley Road, Leeds, LS3 1DG.
Attendees will also find out how they can contribute to the site.
