Forward Leeds have compiled a range of posters and a leaflet to help those who suffer from the Winter Blues.
The winter months can be a difficult time. Lack of sunlight and a disruption to the body’s natural rhythms can leave people feeling down, sluggish and even anxious.
These feelings have been recognised by the medical community and they have given it the name Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
The materials that Forward Leeds are circulating offer advice to try and lift people out of the doldrums and improve their mental and physical wellbeing.
Forward Leeds will be also offer hints and tips on social media throughout the next couple of months using the hashtag #SparkleThroughWinter
Support at this time is particularly important for those who may have issues with alcohol and/or drugs and who might try and cope with negative feelings through substance misuse.
The excessive use of alcohol or drugs is strongly linked to low mood and rumination, anxiety and even conflict. They are likely to make any negative feelings worse and bring further problems.
You can read all of the advice on the Forward Leeds Sparkle and Beat the Winter Blues webpage.
