On the 27th of January the Recovery Academy, off Burley Road in Leeds, hosted an Open Mic Night for and by the Leeds recovery community.
The night was an evening of creativity embracing the spirit of recovery, that was free from substances, but overflowing with inspiration, talent and entertainment.
As well as a great night out, it was a celebration of the many accomplishments of those in Leeds who have taken many positive steps on their road to recovery.
We had a number of performers appear from musicians to poets as well as creative activities running alongside.
Around 100 people attended the event and Jo Byrden, the manager of the Recovery Academy said, “I was truly humbled by the amazing talent, the effort and spirit of the evening. Thank you to all involved”.
Pictured left are Phil Pearce, Spoken Word Artist who provided some really biting moving pieces and Justin Loach, the Recovery Academy Music Group volunteer on electric guitar.
